Software Assurance and Support - Renewal / Reinstatement

This article covers:

SubMain Software Assurance subscription is an upgrade protection coverage that provides access to all major and minor version upgrades while the subscription is current.

SubMain customers can purchase 12 months of Software Assurance subscription with the purchase of any new CodeIt.Right or GhostDoc license. Upgrade protection includes access to all major and minor version upgrades for 12 months from the date of purchase at no additional charge.

For example, if a new CodeIt.Right license is purchased on May 1, 2013, upgrade protection will expire on April 30, 2014. During this time, the customer can download and install any minor version upgrades. In addition, if SubMain issues a major release of CodeIt.Right during the subscription period, the license can be upgraded to the latest version at no additional charge. With SubMain’s Software Assurance, customers will always have access to the latest features and fixes.

Upgrade Protection Sample Timeline

Customers can renew their upgrade protection up to 30 days (grace period) after their current coverage expires, ensuring continuous coverage for an additional 12 months at only 25-30% of the new product price (depending on the product).

For example, a customer who purchased a new CodeIt.Right license on May 1, 2013, may renew his upgrade protection no later than June 1, 2014 (up to 30 days after his current upgrade protection coverage expires) to extend his upgrade protection coverage through April 30, 2015.

You can retrieve your past and current license(s) along with the subscription status information at the MyAccount page using the email address on the account. How do I retrieve my license code(s)?

SubMain offers upgrade protection reinstatements to customers whose coverage has expired but within the reinstatement period (see the diagram above) for 85% of the new product price. Upgrade protection reinstatements allow the customer to upgrade to the most recent version of the product and includes 12 months of upgrade protection coverage. This is provided directly to the customer and does not apply when purchased through a reseller/integrator.

For example, if a customer purchases a new CodeIt.Right license on May 1, 2013, and does not renew upgrade protection coverage, the initial coverage term will expire on April 30, 2014. After this date, an upgrade protection reinstatement is required. If he purchases a reinstatement on August 1, 2014, he will be able to upgrade to the latest version of CodeIt.Right and will receive upgrade protection coverage through July 31, 2015.

Because reinstatements are priced much higher than renewals, it is generally more cost-effective to maintain current upgrade protection and remain on the latest version than to allow upgrade protection coverage to expire and then reinstate later.

No, you cannot renew only part of the initially purchased licenses - the licenses have been issued for the number of users in the initial order and they must be replaced with different licenses for the new number of users. It is recommended to cancel the auto-renewal for the initial order and place a new order for the required number of licenses.

It depends on the channel in which the particular license was purchased. When purchasing a product with Software Assurance online with a credit card, renewal is automatic and you will see a note about that in the license email you receive after the purchase. When purchased through one of our reseller, partner, software integrator channels or via a Purchase Order then manual subscription renewal is required.

No, the Software Assurance subscription must be purchased with the product license and cannot be added later.

If you have current upgrade protection coverage, SubMain will automatically upgrade your license key to the most recent version when new versions of CodeIt.Right or GhostDoc are released. This will allow you to download and install the newest version of the product from the SubMain website. You can retrieve the latest product version license at the MyAccount page using the email address on the account. How do I retrieve my license code(s)?

Regardless of whether Support subscription purchased separately or bundled with Software Assurance, Support subscription is subject to the 30 days grace renewal period after current coverage expires, ensuring continuous coverage for an additional 12 months. Please note, there is no reinstatement period for Support subscription.
